As winter rolls in, our days are getting shorter and there is less to do on the farm. We will no longer be holding volunteer hours for the rest of the semester.
If you’re feeling inclined to get your hands dirty and enjoy an afternoon working with plants, then volunteering at Bailey is for you! Due to the fact that this is a largely student-run endeavor, operating hours at Bailey change each semester based on students on the GREENteam (who provide training and supervision) and their class schedules.
2018 Volunteer Instructions
Please complete the form below to indicate your availability during our established volunteer hours. You do not have to wait to hear back from us in order to show up. We keep this interest form to make sure that we have tasks assigned during those times for volunteers. If you are not available for the entire shift, that’s okay, however we’d like volunteers to commit to at least 2 hours. Unfortunately, we cannot have volunteers outside of these hours because we don’t always have a GREENteam member around to help you. We ask that volunteers wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle and appropriate outdoor work wear that may get dirty (including sunblock). While most of the work happens under the safety of the hoophouse, we do work outside often! Also, please come prepared to complete physical tasks and do actual work. Volunteering in the GREENhouse is fun, but we need to get our tasks completed as this is a working business at MSU.
Come spring, we will be looking to add 2-4 students to our team! If you’re interested in a summer position at the farm, please contact the farm immediately.
